The FIS inspection of the Stelvio slope has been delayed by a few days to allow for additional work on the snow cover. Galli (Race Director): “Colder temperatures are coming, we are confident”
The FIS (International Ski Federation) Snow Control inspection of the Stelvio slope for the FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup events scheduled for Saturday, December 28 and Sunday, December 29, 2024 in Bormio, initially planned for Sunday, December 15, has been rescheduled to Wednesday, December 18.
The postponement was caused by the above-average temperatures registered in Bormio in recent weeks, affecting the planned snowmaking operations.
The additional days will allow the technical team led by race director Omar Galli to finalize snowmaking operations, taking advantage of every favorable weather window. “The conditions in recent weeks have not made our work easier,” explained Galli, “but the temperatures forecast for the upcoming nights make us confident that we’ll be able to produce snow and prepare a surface worthy of the Stelvio’s tradition.“
