Bib draw: Casse and Paris #13 and #14, number 15 for Odermatt
Crowd bath for the bib draw in Bormio’s Piazza Cavour. The most anticipated Italians will start one after the other ahead of the World Cup leader
Today it’s getting serious. The wait for the downhill race on the Stelvio on Saturday, December 28 is almost over, and in Bormio ‘s Piazza Cavour last night the large crowd of fans accompanied the public drawing of bibs for the top ten athletes in the FIS rankings.
Also among them are the two most anticipated Italians, Mattia Casse and Dominik Paris: the Piedmontese, fresh from his Super-G success in Val Gardena, will launch with bib #13, ahead of the seven-time Stelvio master who drew bib #14.
The compulsory favorite, Switzerland’s Marco Odermatt, will be in action just after Casse and Paris with bib #15 and just ahead of the other Italian Florian Schieder, starting with bib #16. Also worth keeping an eye on are Austria’s Vincent Kriechmayr (#11) and Canadians Cameron Alexander and James Crawford, who will start with bibs 6 and 12, respectively.
The start of the downhill race is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. The event will be televised live in Italy on Rai2 and Eurosport.
